North End Dog Run occupies a long, fenced island in North End Avenue in Battery Park City, with separate spaces for large and small dogs. Head toward the median near Warren Street, rather than the waterfront lawns. The Battery Park City Authority’s summer 2026 construction information lists this run as open, while nearby paths may have detours.
Plan your visit
- Location: North End Avenue near Warren Street, Battery Park City, New York, NY 10282. The directory address, Liberty Green at 300 North End Avenue, is an arrival reference; use the street signs and official map to find the enclosure.
- Dog areas: Separate large- and small-dog spaces. Check the signs at each gate for the appropriate area.
- Hours: A current dog-run schedule has not been confirmed by the operator. Check posted hours and temporary notices before an early or late visit.
- Bring: A leash, drinking water, a bowl and waste bags. Water fixtures may be seasonal or temporarily unavailable.
- Parking: A dedicated visitor lot is not confirmed. Check street restrictions or garage arrangements separately; do not assume the dog run provides parking.
Find the dog park entrance
Approach the island in North End Avenue near Warren Street and look for the fenced dog area. BPCA describes a run extending a full block. Keep your dog leashed on the sidewalk and while crossing to the island, then check the gate and size-area signs before entering.
Get directions to North End Dog Run, then use the official location map for the final approach. The Google listing’s pin and street address should not be treated as an exact gate location.

Official maps: BPCA’s dog-run map and visitor brochure (PDF) identifies North Dog Run. For current routes, use the summer 2026 neighborhood wayfinding map and construction updates. The older brochure also shows Sirius Dog Run, which the 2026 update lists as closed.
Water, seating and room to play
BPCA lists seating, shade and drinking fountains for people and dogs at its dog runs. Its brochure describes North Dog Run as having a water feature and a separate smaller-dog area. Bring backup water and check the fixtures when you arrive; neither a fountain nor a water-play feature guarantees current operation.
The long enclosure gives dogs room to run, with paved ground rather than an open grass field. The additional entrance photograph dates to March 2019 and shows the fence, canopy and paved layout at that time. BPCA presented an upgrade design in October 2025, but a design drawing is not confirmation that new surfaces or equipment have been installed.
Rules before you enter
Under BPCA’s park rules and dog-run guidance, dogs must be on a leash no longer than six feet outside the dog runs. Dogs are not allowed on lawns, planting beds or other green spaces, and some public-art areas also exclude dogs. A waterfront walk does not mean off-leash access to the surrounding parks.
Stay with your dog, close gates behind you and clean up waste promptly. Follow the instructions on any dedicated dog-waste compost station. A separate dog-run admission fee or reservation requirement is not stated on the official park page or brochure; check current posted rules before settling in.
What parkgoers say
An August 2026 visitor found separate big- and small-dog areas, only a few dogs playing, and an enclosure that appeared in good shape. A June 2025 visitor liked the shade and friendly dogs and people.
A May 2025 reviewer praised the long layout for fetch, noted narrow benches and shade, and wished for turf. These accounts suggest that the space to run and sheltered setting are part of the appeal, while the hard surface may not suit every dog. Conditions and crowds vary: read current visitor reviews on Google Maps.
