Find the dog park entrance
Use the Churchill Field Park address on North Damen Avenue, four blocks south of Armitage Avenue. The dog enclosure is beside The 606 elevated trail, between Damen and Winchester. Visitors often find the Winchester side convenient when approaching on foot or looking for street parking.

Surface, fencing and water
The existing park photo shows a secure black-metal fence and gate around a broad mixed hard and gravel play surface. The layout gives dogs room to circulate, but the hard ground can become warm and may be rough on paws during long, active sessions.
Visitors describe water fountains and shallow seasonal pools for cooling off. Fountain and pool availability can change with weather, maintenance and the season, so bring a bowl and backup water. Inspect the surface for heat or debris before play.
What park goers say
Park goers frequently praise the friendly group of regular dogs and owners, the roomy neighborhood enclosure, and the easy connection to a longer walk on The 606. Many describe Churchill as social, well used and convenient for Bucktown and Wicker Park residents.
Visitors also mention that the park can become crowded, the mostly hard surface may be demanding on paws, and water features are seasonal. Street parking is usually easier from the surrounding blocks than from Damen itself. These are visitor experiences rather than a check of today’s conditions.
Rules before you enter
Chicago Park District rules require owners to remain with and watch their dogs, keep gates closed, clean up waste and leash dogs before entering and after leaving. Food for people or dogs is prohibited inside Dog Friendly Areas.
Each person may bring no more than three dogs. Puppies under four months, female dogs in heat and dogs with known dangerous behavior are prohibited. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Every dog needs the required Dog Friendly Area permit and a current registration tag.
