Find the dog park entrance
Use directions to Badger Prairie Dog Park. The dog-park parking lot and electronic permit station are on the east side of the county park near U.S. Highway 151 and Maple Grove Drive. The official map separates this entrance from the park’s main facilities farther west.

Play areas and comfort
The main enclosure provides open grassland, a walking loop and room for off-leash exercise. The separate small-dog area offers a quieter option for smaller dogs. Visitors also describe waste stations, picnic tables and a small agility course, but individual fixtures can change.
The wider county park includes hiking and biking trails, picnic facilities, restrooms and a playground. Those shared areas are outside the fenced off-leash boundary; leash your dog when leaving the dog park.
Rules before you enter
Display a valid daily or annual dog permit and follow Dane County’s posted dog-park rules. Keep control of your dog, clean up waste and close each gate behind you. Dogs must be leashed outside designated off-leash areas.
Check current park alerts before leaving home, especially after heavy rain or during seasonal maintenance. Bring waste bags even when dispensers are normally available.
What parkgoers say
Parkgoers often praise the large open space, varied grassland and woodland edges, walking loop and friendly mix of dogs and owners. Visitors also appreciate the separate small-dog area, picnic tables and simple agility equipment.
Some visitors mention muddy spots after rain and limited shade or drinking water in parts of the enclosure. These are individual experiences rather than guarantees. Read recent Badger Prairie Dog Park reviews before your visit.
