Lewisville Dog Park is a six-acre fenced off-leash area inside Railroad Park. A one-acre small-dog enclosure and a five-acre large-dog enclosure provide broad grass fields, while covered seating, transition gates, water fountains and a wash station support longer visits.

Find the dog park entrance
The dog park sits within the much larger Railroad Park sports complex. Enter from South Railroad Street and follow signs toward the dog park rather than the ball fields or skate park. The entrances have transition areas where handlers can move safely between the leashed park and off-leash enclosures.
Get directions to Lewisville Dog Park. The City also publishes a dog-park directions brochure. Keep your dog on a leash no longer than six feet until you are inside the appropriate fenced area.
Grass, shade and wet-weather closures
The large enclosure provides substantial open grass for running, while the small-dog side offers a quieter one-acre space. Both areas include covered seating. Railroad Park also has a 1.5-mile perimeter trail, but dogs must remain leashed outside the dog park.
Grass conditions can change after rain and heavy use. Mud or standing water may lead to temporary closure, and Thursday maintenance protects the turf. Call the City’s condition line before driving over after storms. The wash station helps with muddy paws, but bring towels and backup drinking water.
Rules before you enter
Use the transition gate to leash or unleash your dog, close each gate behind you and choose the enclosure that matches your dog’s size. Keep your dog under control, stop rough or unsafe play, remove an aggressive dog and pick up all waste.
Lewisville requires dogs to remain on a leash no longer than six feet throughout other city parks and trails. Alcohol, tobacco and glass containers are prohibited in city parks. Follow the complete rules posted at the dog-park entrance and check the current City of Lewisville dog-park page before visiting.
What other park goers say
Park goers often praise the unusually large grass fields, clear separation between small and large dogs, covered seating and room for long runs. Visitors also appreciate the fountains, wash station, nearby trail and convenient parking within Railroad Park.
Other visitors mention muddy or worn areas after rain, periodic closures and limited natural tree shade across the open fields. Water equipment and grass quality can vary with weather and maintenance. Check the condition line, bring backup water and inspect the play group before entering. Read current visitor reviews.
