Central Bark is Grand Prairie’s three-acre, fenced off-leash dog park north of the Prairie Paws Adoption Center. The City provides three exercise areas: one for small dogs, one for large dogs and a third that can rotate out of use while the turf recovers.

Approach from W Warrior Trail and use the parking area by the Prairie Paws Adoption Center. Central Bark is immediately north of the shelter. Follow the sidewalk from the 40-space lot to the fenced entrance, keep your dog leashed through the gate system and check which enclosure is open before releasing your dog.

Three areas and rotating turf
The third enclosure gives the City a way to rest worn ground while keeping a small-dog and large-dog area available. Do not assume the same large field will be open on every visit. Read the entrance signs and use the section assigned for your dog’s size.
What park goers say
Park goers often praise the generous running room, separate dog-size areas, double gates, water stations, shade, benches and play features such as ramps, tunnels and large rocks. Visitors also mention the mix of grass, turf and pea gravel and say the open fields work well for fetch and social play.
Recurring cautions concern crowded weekend parking, missed dog waste and handlers who do not step in during rough play. Scan the group before entering, supervise continuously and leave if the play style is not a good fit for your dog.
Rules and responsible use
Grand Prairie limits off-leash activity in City parks to designated pet areas. Keep your dog leashed between the parking lot and the enclosure, use the gate system one stage at a time and clean up all waste. The City’s pet-waste guidance explains that waste left in parks can expose people and animals to disease and can wash into local waterways.
Read every posted sign before entering. Keep your dog within sight and under control, and remove the dog at the first sign of aggressive or unsafe behavior. An open enclosure does not guarantee that water equipment, turf or every section is available.
