Summerlake Dog Park is an approximately two-thirds-acre fenced off-leash area inside Tigard’s Summerlake Park. The City lists a double-gated entrance, dog drinking-water faucet, information kiosk, nearby parking and restrooms, and a shelter for shade and rain protection. The dog park is one shared enclosure rather than separate small- and large-dog areas.

Find the dog park entrance
Enter Summerlake Park from SW Winterlake Drive and use the parking lot near the rhododendron garden. The City map places the dog park immediately east of that lot and south of Summer Lake. Follow the short path to the double-gated enclosure and keep your dog leashed everywhere outside the marked off-leash area.
Surface, shelter and wet-weather conditions
Visitors describe a mix of sand, dirt and seasonally managed grass, with seating and shelter inside or beside the enclosure. Rain can create muddy areas, especially near the water faucet, so pack a towel and shoes that can handle soft ground. Summer Lake, the playgrounds, sports courts and loop trails belong to the larger park and are not extensions of the off-leash enclosure.

Several visitors like being able to combine off-leash play with a leashed walk around Summer Lake. The most repeated concern is mud during the wet season, and some visitors note that all dog sizes share the same enclosure. Rules before you enter
Review the posted dog-park etiquette and rules at the entrance before releasing your dog. Close both gates, supervise continuously, remove a dog that cannot play safely and clean up waste. Tigard provides waste bags and garbage cans at its dog parks and major trails, but bringing your own bags is still a good precaution. Keep dogs leashed on the parking lot, trails and all other areas outside the designated enclosure.
