Canine Commons is Pineville’s fenced public off-leash dog park at 181 Lake Drive. The Town opened it in 2017 and currently lists dawn-to-dusk hours with a Tuesday-morning maintenance closure. The enclosure sits beside the lake and greenway, but the lake and shared paths are outside the dog park.

Navigate to the Town’s listed address at 181 Lake Drive rather than a general Pineville park pin. From the public parking area, follow the paved path and posted signs to the fenced Canine Commons entrance. Keep your dog leashed beside the lake and on the greenway until both of you are safely inside the gate. The exact accessible route and any temporary parking restrictions were not independently verified.
Shade, surfaces and the lake
Visitors describe a large, wooded enclosure with mature shade trees, seating, waste stations and a dog-height water fixture. The surface includes grass, dirt and pine needles and can become muddy after rain. The adjacent lake is visible from the park, but recent park goers say dogs cannot enter the lake from inside the enclosure. Bring a towel after wet weather and do not plan this as a swimming stop.
What park goers say
Park goers most often praise the room to run, heavy tree cover, seating and friendly social atmosphere. Recent visitors also mention that weekends can become busy and that the shared enclosure has no separate small-dog section. Several reviews recommend towels after rain because low areas can hold mud. Dogs that prefer more space may be more comfortable during quieter weekday periods outside Tuesday morning maintenance.
Rules before you enter
Pineville requires dogs to remain leashed until safely inside and to be leashed again before leaving. Handlers must stay in the enclosure, keep their dogs in view and under voice control, remove aggressive or sick dogs and clean up waste. No more than three dogs are allowed per person. Puppies younger than four months, female dogs in heat and children under 12 are not permitted inside. Dogs must wear current license and rabies tags and be vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP. Smoking, eating, bowls of food, long-lasting chews and glass containers are prohibited.
