Broemmelsiek Park’s nearly five-acre off-leash area offers a large fenced field, a covered shelter and a grove of shade trees. The dog-park entrance is at 4301 Wilson Road, separate from the main Broemmelsiek Park entrance on Highway DD. St. Charles County records confirm that the former dog-park water feature has been closed, so visitors should no longer plan on pond swimming.

Find the dog park entrance
Do not navigate only to Broemmelsiek Park’s main entrance at 1795 Highway DD. The off-leash area has its own entrance and parking at 4301 Wilson Road. From the main park, county directions route visitors toward Schwede Road and then Wilson Road, with the dog park on the right.

The former pond is closed
Older county brochures and reviews describe a swimming pond with a retriever dock. Minutes approved in January 2026 state that the Parks Department closed the water feature at the Broemmelsiek dog park. Treat older pond references and the lake shown on the park map as historical, and do not plan a swimming visit.
Bring drinking water and a bowl. Never allow a dog to enter standing water unless current signs explicitly permit it and conditions are visibly safe.
Open grass, shade and wet-weather closures
The large open area suits running and fetch, while the shelter and tree grove offer breaks. The county may close the dog park after rain to protect the turf. Check the live closure line before leaving, and keep your dog leashed on any paved path used as an alternative when the enclosure is closed.
Rules before you enter
Dogs must have current immunizations. Keep your dog leashed while entering and exiting, remain with your dog and keep control at all times. Each person may bring no more than three dogs.
Pick up waste immediately; the county supplies waste bags, but carrying spares is sensible. Remove a dog that becomes aggressive or overwhelmed, and follow all current signs and ranger directions.
What other park goers say
Park goers often praise the amount of fenced space, the tree-lined setting, the covered shelter and the room for dogs to run. Visitors also value the separate Wilson Road entrance and a less urban atmosphere.
Older reviews frequently focus on the pond, which is no longer a current amenity. More recent concerns include mud and temporary closures after wet weather. Check the live park status, bring water and bags, and evaluate ground conditions before entering. Read current visitor reviews.
