Leawoof Dog Park is a fenced off-leash area at the east end of Leawood City Park. The park offers separate play areas for larger and smaller dogs, agility equipment, benches and a dog water fountain. Keep your dog leashed while walking from the parking area to the dog-park gates.

Find the dog park entrance
Enter Leawood City Park from Lee Boulevard and park in the City Park lot. The dog park sits at the east end of the park, reached by following the marked path and crossing the bridge. Use posted signs for the final approach and keep your dog leashed until both of you are safely inside the fenced area.
Open space, agility and wet-weather mud
The off-leash area combines open grass and dirt with agility features and seating. Shade varies across the enclosure. Because the park lies near a floodplain, wet weather can create muddy or soggy patches; bring a towel and check the City’s closure page after storms. The surrounding City Park pond and other recreation areas are outside the dog park and are not off-leash or dog-swimming areas.
What park goers say
Park goers often praise the open space, secure double-gate entry, agility equipment and separate smaller-dog area. Several visitors mention waste bags, benches and a water source as useful features. Others caution that the ground can become muddy, shade can feel limited in parts of the park and the fountain may be turned off seasonally. Bring water, supervise near the gates and judge conditions when you arrive.
Rules before you enter
Leawood requires current vaccinations and a license from the dog’s city of residence, with identification and vaccination tags on the collar. Use a leash no longer than six feet until safely inside, carry the leash with you and limit each visitor to two dogs. Supervisors must be at least 12, keep dogs in sight, close gates and remove waste. Puppies younger than four months, dogs in heat, sick or aggressive dogs, food, glass, alcohol and smoking are prohibited. Review the complete City rules before visiting.
