Grass, shade and agility equipment
The existing exact-park photo shows two dogs inside a large grassy enclosure with mature shade, picnic tables, fencing and several agility obstacles. The open layout gives dogs room to run, while the trees and seating make longer visits more comfortable for handlers.
Grass and dirt conditions can change after rain or heavy use. Check for holes, standing water and damaged equipment before play, and avoid obstacles that are too hot or slippery for your dog.
What park goers say
Park goers frequently praise the unusually spacious grassy sections, mature shade, picnic tables and agility pieces. Visitors appreciate the free entry and describe the park as a convenient community meeting place where dogs can run and socialize.
Some visitors report occasional waste left behind or a dog whose behavior makes the shared space uncomfortable. Watch the current group before entering, choose the other size section when appropriate and leave promptly if play becomes unsafe. These are visitor experiences rather than a check of today’s conditions.
Rules before you enter
Portage requires current dog tags and vaccinations, limits each person to two dogs and requires handlers to remain inside with their dogs. Dogs must stay leashed until they are through the gate, and off-leash dogs must respond to voice commands.
Aggressive dogs, female dogs in heat and dogs with contagious disease are prohibited. Choke, spike and prong collars are not allowed. The rules prohibit dog toys, smoking, alcohol, drugs and most food; training treats are allowed. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult, and handlers must remove and bag all waste.
