Urbana Dog Park is a members-only off-leash park on East Perkins Road. Arrange membership and a working gate fob before bringing your dog: there are no daily passes. Inside, the roughly ten-acre dog area combines open grass with a wooded grove and a separate enclosure for timid dogs.

Find the dog park entrance
Get directions to Urbana Dog Park at the Perkins Road entrance. The district lists free gravel parking just off the road, including an accessible concrete space. Registration takes place at Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton Street, which is a different destination.
Keep your dog leashed through the entry gates and use your own active fob. Do not let another visitor in through your membership. View the district’s park page and aerial site map reference for location context.
Water, play areas and what to bring
The dog park occupies about ten acres of the larger Perkins Road site. Open meadow and a shaded grove offer different spaces to explore; the smaller fenced area is intended for timid dogs. Use the posted enclosure guidance rather than assuming it is exclusively a weight-based division.
The district lists drinking fountains from April through October and seasonal portable toilets. Its member manual also describes a rinse station outside the fence; the hydrant water is not potable. Bring drinking water and a bowl, especially outside the seasonal service window. Benches and waste bags are listed, but carry spare bags and clean up wherever your dog goes.
Rules before you enter
The district’s dog park rules limit each visit to three dogs. A member age 16 or older must supervise and keep dogs within sight and voice control. Dogs need current vaccinations, county registration and tags; members should carry photo ID.
Children must be at least six and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Puppies under four months and dogs in heat are not allowed. Remove prong or spike collars before play, keep a leash with you, and leave immediately if your dog becomes aggressive. Food, treats and smoking are prohibited. Follow maintenance closures and read the full rules before entering.
What other park visitors say
Visitors praise the space to run, trees and opportunities for dogs to socialize. A March 2026 visitor described friendly dogs and people; a November 2025 visitor appreciated the grass, separate areas and upkeep. Some older reviews are less positive about maintenance and the timing of seasonal water shutoff.
A recurring complaint comes from travelers who arrived expecting a quick public stop and could not open the members-only gate. Arrange access before making a detour. Read current Google reviews for more visitor experiences, while using the district’s current page for prices and rules.
