Find the dog park entrance
Enter Windmill Park from Lyons Road between Atlantic Boulevard and Coconut Creek Parkway. Follow the internal drive toward the dog-park area; the city map places the small- and large-dog enclosures in the wooded southern part of the park.
Get directions to Windmill Dog Park. Have your membership key fob ready and keep your dog leashed until you are safely inside the correct enclosure.

Membership and current fees
Access is controlled by an electronic key fob issued after the city approves the membership application, rabies certificate and acceptance of the park rules. The city lists a $35 first-year resident membership for one dog and a $70 first-year nonresident membership for one dog. Additional resident dogs are $15 each; additional nonresident dogs are $30 each. Renewal discounts apply when the member still has the fob.
Membership is limited to three dogs per household. Fees and registration steps can change, so confirm them on the city’s rules page or call 954-545-6670 before applying.
Shade, agility and cleanup facilities
Both enclosures have agility equipment and their own dog-wash station. More than 60 trees provide shade across the dog-park area, while pavilions and benches give handlers places to rest. Six-foot-wide sidewalks connect the facilities, and attached restrooms sit near the dog park.
Bring drinking water as a backup even though the city lists fountains. The wash stations are especially helpful after active play or wet weather.
What other park goers say
Park goers often praise the shade, clean grounds, separate size areas, agility equipment, dog-wash stalls and nearby restrooms. Reviewers also like the controlled membership system and the amount of space available for dogs to run and socialize.
Some visitors consider the annual fee a drawback, and a few report occasional problems with rough dog behavior or handlers who are not paying close attention. Conditions vary by visit. Watch the group before entering, supervise your dog and leave if play becomes unsafe.
Rules before you enter
Members must carry identification and the correct key fob and may not admit another person or dog with their pass. Dogs must wear a collar, stay leashed until inside and return to a leash before exiting. Owners must clean up waste, and each handler is limited to three dogs.
Handlers must be at least 18. Children ages 6 through 12 require close adult supervision; infants, toddlers and small children are prohibited inside the off-leash area. Puppies under four months, dogs in heat, and aggressive, sick or injured dogs are not allowed. Food, alcohol, smoking and recreational toys such as balls and frisbees are prohibited; small training treats are permitted.
