Former park location
The dog park operated on roughly five acres of Caltrans-owned land west of Wild River Drive and south of Bogue Road. Because the operator has vacated the property and Caltrans is selling it, the former coordinates and address should be used only to identify the closed site.
What the former park offered
Before closing, Off the Leash Dog Park provided large fenced areas for small and larger dogs, a walking loop, grass and trees, agility obstacles, water access, waste bags, picnic tables and a portable restroom. It was maintained by a local nonprofit and supported through donations and volunteers.
These historical amenities are no longer presented as available. Do not rely on older directory hours, photos or reviews that still describe the park as open.
What parkgoers said
Past visitors valued the spacious field, separate dog areas, walking loop, agility features, shade and friendly community. Reviews immediately before the closure also mentioned pools, a hose, waste bags and plenty of room for active dogs.
Some older reviews noted inconsistent waste cleanup. These comments describe the former park experience and should not be read as a report of current conditions at the property.
Why the park closed
The nonprofit leased the land from Caltrans for nearly two decades. Caltrans later classified the property as excess land for sale. The park board announced that it could no longer maintain the site and ended operations in spring 2026.

Closure sources and future updates
Read the April 2026 local closure report, which includes statements from the park board and Caltrans. Caltrans’ current excess-property listing identifies the Yuba City land off Garden Highway near Bogue Road as unimproved vacant land offered for public auction.
