Point Isabel Regional Shoreline is a 23-acre waterfront park in Richmond where dogs may be off leash under special East Bay Regional Park District rules. The park has Bay views, more than 2.5 miles of nearby Bay Trail, two main parking areas and over one million visitors a year, most with dogs.

Find the dog park entrance
From I-580 or I-80, take Central Avenue west, then turn onto Isabel Street or Rydin Road for the park’s two principal parking areas. Use directions to the Isabel Street entrance. Dogs must remain leashed in parking lots and on streets.
What to expect
This is an open shoreline park rather than a conventional fenced dog run. Trails cross grassland and waterfront terrain, and wind, mud, tides and crowds can change the experience. Keep a six-foot-or-shorter leash with you even when your dog is off leash.
Rules and safety
Keep your dog under voice control and within sight at all times. Immediately leash a dog that shows aggression, clean up waste and prevent digging or damage. Dogs must stay out of marshlands, mudflats and sensitive bird habitat.
Anyone walking dogs for a fee or walking more than three personal dogs needs the park district’s annual permit. Check signs because some connecting Bay Trail sections require leashes even though Point Isabel has a special off-leash exception.
