San Diego Dog Events: October 30–November 12, 2026

San Diego’s next two weekends offer a good choice between costumes, a group walk and a movie with your dog beside you. For October 30–November 12, 2026, choose from six outings: five in San Diego and a nearby parade in Del Mar. There are two final days to catch the pumpkin patch and a dog-friendly matinee on either weekend.

All times are local. California turns its clocks back on Sunday, November 1: October events use PDT, while November events use PST. Pick an outing around what your dog enjoys—moving with a group, meeting people, or settling beside you—and leave room for an early departure.

Three picks to start with

  • For a free Halloween parade: head to Del Mar’s Powerhouse Park on October 31. Register your dog, arrive for the 9:30 a.m. check-in and be ready for the 10 a.m. parade.
  • For a walk without a ticket: Blue Leash’s November 7 pack walk is free, requires no RSVP and welcomes people who are not existing customers. Bring at least one person per dog.
  • For a seated outing: Rooftop Cinema Club has designated Wooftop matinees of The Nightmare Before Christmas on October 31 and November 8. Choose the exact dog-friendly screening when buying tickets.

This weekend in San Diego

Catch the pumpkin patch before the season ends

Goff Family Pumpkin Patch finishes its 2026 season on Saturday, October 31. For this guide’s dates, that leaves Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, both 9 a.m.–9 p.m. The patch is at 2830 Perry Road, San Diego, CA 92106, beside The Loma Club putting green in Liberty Station.

Admission is free, dogs are welcome on leash, and pumpkin, food and drink purchases are separate. Outside picnic food is permitted. This is the most flexible arrival window in the weekend list, useful if your dog does better with a short visit than a scheduled procession. Keep the seasonal end date in mind: these hours are not a promise of a November pumpkin-patch visit.

A costume party on the library lawn

The North University Community Library Howl-oween Paw-ty runs Saturday, October 31, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m., on the West Lawn at 8820 Judicial Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. The library invites people to dress their pups for a costume contest, with pup cups part of the celebration.

Walk-ins are welcome and registration is not required. The library listing does not state a fee; check the current event page before you go. This is a lawn event with an explicit invitation for your own dog, so keep the outdoor meeting location in mind when you arrive.

Browse the Village Walkway Halloween Market

The Spooky Halloween Market at The Village Walkway runs Saturday, October 31, noon–4 p.m., at Mira Mesa Mall, 8270 Mira Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92126. Organizer Aloha Kimi Williams lists free admission and free parking, and asks visitors to register for a free ticket.

Pets are explicitly welcome, and this year’s event includes a pet costume contest alongside the children’s activities and shopping. The pet contest’s running order and any separate entry terms are not published, so don’t plan around a guessed contest time. Guests younger than 18 need a parent or legal guardian. Register ahead and treat purchases from vendors as separate from the free admission.

Nearby: Del Mar’s Halloween Dog Parade

The Del Mar Foundation’s Halloween Dog Parade is Saturday, October 31 at Powerhouse Park, Coast Boulevard, beside the community center at 1658 Coast Boulevard, Del Mar, CA 92014. Check-in opens at 9:30 a.m., the parade begins at 10 a.m., and the event is listed through noon.

The parade is free, with costume prizes for participating dogs. Register your dog and collect a judging number at check-in. Dogs must remain leashed throughout the event; the park does not become an off-leash area for the parade.

Del Mar is a separate municipality north of San Diego, so make this a deliberate destination. Arriving for check-in gives you time to settle your dog before the procession instead of joining a crowd at the last moment. If costumes are not your dog’s favorite thing, keep comfort ahead of elaborate accessories.

Next week: a free pack walk

Blue Leash’s Free Pack Walk meets Saturday, November 7, 10–11 a.m., outside Nate’s Point Dog Park, 2500 Balboa Drive at El Prado, San Diego, CA. The outside meeting point matters: this is a trainer-supervised leash walk, not an instruction to turn your dog loose inside the dog park.

It is free, with no RSVP, purchase or existing-customer requirement. Bring at least one human per dog. The organizer’s walk guidance asks owners who are unsure whether their dog is safe around other dogs to speak with a trainer first. That makes this a better choice when you can comfortably walk near a group, rather than using a busy event to test an uncertain situation.

Allow time to reach the meeting point, and check Balboa Park parking information separately; free participation does not mean every nearby parking space is free.

A Wooftop movie on either weekend

Rooftop Cinema Club’s Little Italy venue is on the 5th floor of Porto Vista Hotel, 1835 Columbia Street, San Diego, CA 92101. Its designated Wooftop screenings invite guests to bring their dogs. Two family matinees of The Nightmare Before Christmas fall in this guide’s dates: Saturday, October 31 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, November 8 at noon.

Tickets are paid; check the selected screening’s price, fees and remaining seats before booking. Select the Wooftop-labeled session, as general movie listings do not automatically include dog admission. Keep dogs leashed and under control; the November 8 event specifically warns that aggressive dogs may be removed.

Check your screening’s arrival instructions, as door-opening times differ. Tickets are non-refundable, with transfers available before showtime, and severe weather can affect the schedule. This is a useful option for a dog comfortable settling near people for a film; bring a different plan if sitting through a matinee is likely to be frustrating.

Put a later date on the calendar

Looking further ahead, the San Diego Doggie Street Festival is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., at NTC Park in Liberty Station, San Diego, CA 92106. Admission is free and friendly dogs are welcome.

If the November 7 group walk suits you, Blue Leash’s calendar also lists a free pack walk on Saturday, December 5, 10–11 a.m., outside Nate’s Point. Recheck the organizer’s page closer to either date for changes.

Before any outing, reopen the organizer’s link, bring water and waste bags, and use a secure leash. Halloween crowds and costumes can change a familiar place; a short, comfortable visit is enough.

FAQs: Rules, Permits & Amenities

Are dog parks free to use?

Most public dog parks (“dog runs”) are free to enter. Many cities require a current dog license and proof of rabies vaccination for off-leash use, and some (e.g., Chicago DFAs/dog beach) require a paid permit tag. Private or indoor dog parks typically charge a day pass or membership. Check your city guide for local fees and rules.

Do I need a city permit or vaccinations?

Requirements vary by city. Commonly needed: a valid dog license and current rabies vaccination. Some cities (e.g., Chicago) require a Dog-Friendly Area (DFA) tag issued by a veterinarian. Vets often recommend core vaccines (rabies, DHPP) plus Bordetella, leptospirosis and canine influenza for frequent dog-park visitors. Always confirm with your vet and local rules.

Where can I find fenced runs and small-dog areas?

Use our amenity filters to see Fenced parks and those with Separate Small/Large Areas. Many well-designed dog parks provide separate spaces for small dogs and include double-gated, fully fenced enclosures for safe off-leash play.

Are there indoor dog parks or dog beaches near me?

Yes—search our Indoor and Dog Beach filters. Indoor parks are usually private facilities (fees/memberships may apply). Some cities designate off-leash dog beaches; local permits and vaccination proof can be required. Check your city page for seasonal hours and entry rules.

Which parks have water features, shade, and parking?

Filter by Water Features, Shade/Benches, and Parking. For hot days, pick parks with shade and drinking water; many dog-park design standards call for shade, hydration and nearby parking to improve safety and access.
